Along with a diverse workload covering the UK, we’re proud to offer our team members a wide range of employee benefits and work opportunities.
Employee wellbeing is incredibly important to us; that’s why we nurture our team’s ambitions and goals, and why we prioritise a great work/life balance.
We are passionate about what we do and everyone who works at GJP is enthusiastic, committed and a great team player.
Before working at GJP, I didn’t realise how much managerial control I’d have as a planner – but you’re involved in the whole process here, from start to finish, and you’re trusted with a high level of responsibility from the get-go.
Associate – Team Leader
From vineyards and distilleries to housing developments and manufacturing facilities, we have a vast array of clients and projects that make every day different.
We’re a social bunch – a few of our team events include:
Our office is based at The Maltings, near Cardiff Bay, and offers a fantastic range of amenities our team can take full advantage of.
When you join us, you can enjoy:
It goes without saying but really, our clients are great. From the big to the small, we treat every client with the same diligence and effort – and they look after us too.
Thanks to our hard work, clients regularly gift us tickets to events, food hampers, flowers, meals, visits to venues and bottles of wine – but for us, helping clients get their projects over the line is really what we love.
One of the best bits about being a town planner is getting to actually visit what we plan!
Our team have the opportunity to get away from their desks and go to site, including places in North Wales, London, the South Coast and West Wales.
We pride ourselves on working well together, offering help and support where needed – we even mentor each other through RTPI submissions!
Working closely with our Director, Geraint, and the management team means you can learn a lot more; it’s an open way of working where everyone’s involved in a project’s process.
We love to encourage further professional development to see the team progress in their qualifications and knowledge.
As well as financially supporting the team’s submissions for further accreditation, we offer in-house sessions with other professionals and consultants to broaden our expertise.
Zoe has mentored other team members when applying for RTPI accreditation, offering practical advice and support on their submissions.
Whether you’re a university student on a placement year or a parent returning from parental leave, we offer flexible working patterns to accommodate your needs – from part-time to flexible hours, we’re adaptable.
“You could be masterplanning a couple of thousand units one day, then working on someone’s home extension the next – we cover both major and minor projects, and it’s a great variety.”
“Despite the rise in hybrid working, we all choose to work from the office. It’s a great work/life balance.”
“To be a planner, you need perseverance and determination to get projects over the line – when that happens, you feel so proud of it and get such a good feeling.”
“It’s a good work ethic, hard working but relaxed, and you know you can rely on your team members if you need them.”
At GJP you’re constantly learning on the job and pick a lot from your colleagues. You’re assigned your own tasks and responsibilities early on, which is the best way to learn the ropes!
“I just thought I’d email to let you know that I received all my marks for my placement year assignments last month (finally!).
I also got to read my employer report so thank you for the kind words and amazing mark.
With the employer report, my presentation, and written assessment I averaged 90% for my placement year which I’m over the moon with.
Thank you again for having me.”
– Tia Fishlock, after spending a placement year working at GJP
