GJP is delighted to announce that planning permission has recently secured for the extension, and change of use of Bryn Eglwys Barn to a holiday let on behalf on the Monknash Estate, after an appeal was allowed by the Planning Inspectorate on the 16th April 2021.

The site is situated within the Monknash Conservation Area, and was refused by the Vale of Glamorgan Council with a single reason listed for the refusal, relating to the impact of the extension of the character of the barn, and the wider conservation area.

GJP were successful in addressing this reason for refusal as part of the appeal with the Inspector concluding that the ‘development would preserve the character and appearance of the barn and Monknash Conservation Area.’

The proposed development will provide a high quality, attractive holiday let unit which will allow a successful rural holiday accommodation business to become established within Monknash – which is essential given the increased interest in ‘staycations’ within rural Wales.
