GJP acted as lead consultant on all planning matters to deliver a new 420-place primary school as part of a mixed-use scheme, comprising 19 open market residential apartments above. Cityheart was appointed as Preferred Developer by LocatED to deliver the scheme.
The new two-form entry school, located on Coombe Road in Kingston upon Thames, offers teaching and learning spaces, in addition to facilities such as a dedicated dance studio. A rooftop play area will provide an external learning environment with eco playground and sports pitch.
The development involved the demolition of an existing five storey office building and the construction of a new basement, which had to be designed with consideration to the adjacent railway line.
GJP secured planning permission for the scheme, secured subsequent revisions to the approved scheme, and subsequently discharged all planning conditions to enable implementation of the planning permission.
