GJP secured planning permission for 705 homes, 20 per cent of which will be affordable, on a 50-hectare site north of the garden village development at Gorseinon, Swansea.
The scheme includes a new 3.3-hectare park and a network of pedestrian routes and green spaces, and will be built by Persimmon Homes West Wales.
GJP initially co-ordinated the significant multi-disciplinary work being undertaken by a number of specialist sub-consultants to ensure that the comprehensive masterplanning of the site for circa 750 units and enhanced education and recreation infrastructure was suitably robust. GJP first secured an allocation in the Local Development Plan, then Planning Permission and finally Reserved Matters Approval in July 2021.
The proposals included 705 dwellings, commercial facilities, public open space, detailed landscaping and engineering works, among other facilities.
The proposals received a unanimous vote for approval by Swansea Council Members in July 2021.
The scheme was received positively by Members at planning committee, who were delighted with the exemplar nature of the development in placemaking, architectural and landscaping terms, and look forward to this development coming forward.
The building and development is currently in progress and will support the creation of significant employment in the area.
