The East Hertfordshire District Council appointed City heart as their preferred Development Partner to bring forward the redevelopment of a 5.2-acre site in the centre of Bishop’s Stortford, known as ‘Old River Lane’.
GJP has been appointed as the lead planning consultant for the redevelopment proposal – a £80 million mixed-use scheme forming an integral part of East Herts District Council’s wider transformation vision to capitalise on Bishop Stortford’s attractive town centre and growing population.
The masterplan for the Old River Lane site is set to deliver over 130 residential dwellings, offices, retail space and an arts centre comprising a 5-screen cinema and events space, surrounded by attractive public realm and a new public square.
GJP assisted with the competitive Preferred Developer selection process, and are acting as planning consultant for the scheme.
The ongoing scheme has involved the preparation and submission of planning and related applications for the scheme.
The promotion process included input into the Supplementary Planning Document produced by the Council as a precursor to the planning application process and stage. In addition, presentation to, and review by, the Design Review Panel has been undertaken–to secure critical independent review of the scheme proposals.
Dialogue with the Local Planning Authority is ongoing in respect to the scheme and planning application lodged.
