Bangor University appointed Cityheart as their preferred Development Partner to deliver 602 student rooms for Bangor University in the town centre.
GJP assisted with the competitive Preferred Developer selection process, and acted as planning consultant for the scheme.
The scheme included a mix of studio apartments, apartments and town houses, in addition to new leisure facilities with a ‘MUGA’ pitch, performing arts space, gym, nursery, transport hub, café/bar and nursery. Two buildings of historic note were retained and repurposed to provide residents’ social spaces and amenities. The buildings were designed to meet BREEAM ‘Excellent’ for the New Build and ‘Very Good’ for the repurposed element.
GJP secured planning permission for the scheme, and subsequently discharged all planning conditions to enable implementation of the planning permission.
The project was delivered within a challenging programme, necessitating the ‘fast tracking’ of the planning process within a 10 week period. This was enabled through considerable pre-application dialogue with the Local Planning Authority, and the ‘front-loading’ of the submission.
